Shelley Art Group is a vibrant, friendly, social art club. We meet on Tuesday evenings at Shelley Village Hall, (98 Huddersfield Road, Shelley, HD8 8HE) 8 till 10 pm. Please view the calendar for full term times and for the odd dates when we are unable to use the hall.
Our calendar is a fun mix of open sessions (work on whatever you like), themed nights, demonstrations and workshops which are usually hosted by local/regional artists using a variety of different media. The best way to keep updated is to subscribe to our mailing list, which should pop up on this websites home page. We also have a facebook group Shelley Art Group.
We hold an annual exhibition every spring where the public are invited to browse, enjoy our creations, have some food and drink and even purchase our art. As a group we have also been invited to take park in the market hall fringe venue as part of Holmfirth Art Week. A number of our members also sell and print many of their own art pieces in local venues at at events.
New Members You're always welcome, please just come along, the first two weeks are free. You don't need to have any previous artistic experience or capabilities. Taking part in the Calendar activities is optional, you will need your own art materials, but initially just bringing an art paper pad and pencils would be fine.
Fees We run three terms from September: split roughly like school terms, it works out to be about 42 weeks throughout the year. Subscriptions can be paid in full £75 in September or at the start of each term £25. (If you're a new member then the fee will charged at a pro rata rate for the amount of weeks left in the term.) Term Fees are due at the beginning of each term, September, January and Mid April (after we've had the week off due to Pierrot players).
